The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has said that the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made the November ballot a walk over for PDP.Kogi PDP spokesman, Bode Ogunmola, said the choice of Bello would ensure an easy win for the PDP due to the purported poor performance and public resentment of his administration.

The party said it had all along been praying for the APC to make the mistake of re-presenting Bello.“It is a fact that Governor Bello cannot win any local government given his poor performance and the way and manner the resources of the state are being massively looted.

“His desperation to return is to save himself from going to prison over looted funds. That was why he had to spend hugely to get strong contenders disqualified,” PDP stated.

The opposition party assured the electorate of its determination to give the state a better deal, as it claimed to be the most credible alternative.
But APC chieftain, Abubakar Ohere, said yesterday that the governor’s victory at the party’s primary affirmed the oneness of members at all levels.
Ohere, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, made the affirmation at APC stakeholders’ and reconciliation meeting in Okehi.

He said the landslide victory of the governor at the APC primaries was a sign that members of the party at all levels were united and resolute ahead of the governorship ballot on November 16.

The leader of Bello’s political appointees in Kogi Central said the APC in the state became united and stronger under the governor’s leadership, while assuring the people of equal opportunities in the party.
