Commission, NDLEA partner to screen candidates for Kano LG polls
The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission has announced partnership with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to screen candidates seeking elective positions in the upcoming local government elections.
This collaboration aims to ensure the participation of only responsible and credible candidates in the election.
The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Sani Lawal-Malumfashi, made this announcement during a news briefing on Wednesday.
He explained that the screening process was designed to build trust and integrity in the electoral process, ensuring that only qualified candidates were eligible to participate.
According to Lawal-Malumfashi, the commission has demonstrated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the forthcoming elections through this partnership.
Malumfashi reiterated the commission’s dedication to conducting free, fair, and credible elections across all the 44 local government areas.

He said, ”The commission will commence the sale of forms soon and has urged the political parties to nominate honest and credible candidates.”
Lawal-Malumfashi assured all law-abiding residents of the state that they can exercise their franchise without threat to lives and property.
He emphasize that various security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful electoral process in the state.
Lawal-Malumfashi advised the political party leaders and candidates to discourage their supporters from engaging in violence and thuggery before, during, and after the election.
He warned that any individuals or groups found disobeying orders would be arrested and prosecuted.
The state electoral body has, however, fixed the council polls for Sept. 30.
