The  All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State led by Chief  Tony Okocha, has boasted that the party will repeat the same victory it recorded in the just concluded election in Edo state in Rivers State come 2027.

Okocha,  the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC in Rivers, noted that the election was well conducted and credible and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the good conduct of the election.

There were reports of vote buying in many polling stations. The vote buyers stationed agents within the voting area to canvass votes and direct those they converted to some backyards where they were paid cash for the votes they cast.

There were also reports of inadequate Bi-modal verification accreditation system (BIVAS) machines being used for the polls which slowed down the process.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Monday, Okocha commended President Bola Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for the successful election.

Okocha said: “Nigerians can see the election in Edo was narrow the difference was less than 50,000 between the PDP candidate and that of the APC.

“I have not heard that REC chairman distorted any result. We are sure and certain that we are going to replicate what happened in Edo state at Delta and Rivers State come 2027.”

He, therefore, applauded the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC)  Dr.Anugbum Onuoha credibly conducting the election.

On the October 5,  Rivers local government elections, Okocha said there were no signs indicating that an election would be held.

The APC  and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the  State have declared that they were going to boycott the council election.

Okocha said, “Governor Siminalayi Fubara should stop deceiving Rivers state people because he is aware that election cannot hold when the party has a court case.”

He boasted that the APC is in charge of Rivers State, saying,  “As far as we are concerned, the APC  I lead is in charge and in total support of President Tinubu.”

He further explained that APC in Rivers has resumed activities by “suspending and expelling” those who are causing distractions in the party, adding that has earned recognition at the national level due to its performance.

Okocha hailed the recent court ruling dismissing the suit seeking the removal of the  27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that the lawmakers are not registered with APC.

He said, “The 27 House Assembly embers have clarified that they are not members of the APC. None of them even by default are registered in their ward as APC party members or even have a registration card.”
