• Governor receives PDP chieftain, Akomolafe, 1,000 others into APC
• Osun 2026: PDP backs Adeleke’s re-election bid
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, yesterday, urged the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to conduct themselves responsibly during the party’s campaign, warning that there should be no bloodshed.
The governor said that all the candidates contesting for the June 20 governorship election are all Ekiti indigenes, saying, “Don’t fight anybody. I don’t want bloodshed.”
Oyebanji spoke while receiving Henrich Akomolafe, who decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with over 1,000 followers in Ikere- Ekiti to the APC.
The governor said that he was targeting 600,0000 votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He said that the APC would begin its campaign after the Muslims and Christians conclude fasting.
Also speaking, former Governor Ayodele Fayose said that though Oyebanji has won the upcoming election, he is campaigning so that votes for President Tinubu can be meaningful.
Relatedly, ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial polls in Osun State, the state chapter of the PDP, yesterday, endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke as their candidate for the election.
This was just as Adeleke, who is the flag bearer of the Accord Party (AP), disclosed that his resignation from the PDP was informed by the need to escape being trapped from realising his re-election ambition.
The Osun State Chairman of the party, Sunday Bisi, who spoke during the enlarged stakeholders’ meeting of the PDP in Osogbo, lamented that the crisis, which rocked the party at the national level, was allowed to fester such that it could not produce a candidate for the forthcoming poll.
In his remark, Adeleke, who expressed his love for the PDP, said he decided to leave the party to escape being trapped for his re-election bid, saying: “I confided in some of our leaders that I trust, we started consulting and praying to God over it. We were guided to the Accord Party.
