FCT polls : ADC’s AMAC candidate concedes defeat

The Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the just concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Dr Paul Moses has conceded defeat signalling a narrow chance for litigations .

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confers the powers of sponsorship of candidates on the various political parties who have the final say on the outcome of an election it sponsored candidates.

Although this decision is mostly taken in collaboration with the candidate ,but even where the candidate shows little or no desire to challenge the outcome of an election , the party can go ahead and institute legal proceedings begining from the Election Tribunal panels.

In a rare show, Dr Paul said in a statement that  he accepts the outcome of the poll in good faith.

The  ADC candidate who  expressed gratitude to his supporters, campaign team, and the residents of AMAC who according to him,  believed in his vision, made the decision after final  declaration of results .

AMAC incumbent chairman Honourable Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to Dr Noses : “I accept the outcome of the election. Democracy demands respect for the will of the people, and I remain committed to the principles of peace, progress, and service,” he stated.

He, however, emphasized that the election marks not the end, but a continuation of his commitment to public service.

“This is not the end of the journey. Our movement for accountable leadership, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in AMAC remains strong. We will continue to engage, organize, and work towards a better future for our people,” he added.

Dr Paul  Moses urged his supporters to remain calm, focused, and united, assuring them that the ideals they stood for during the campaign would not be abandoned.
