The APC Integrity Group has commended residents of South-East extraction in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recently concluded FCT Area Councils election.All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recently concluded FCT Area Councils election.

In a statement by its National Coordinator, Ardo Zubairu, and National Secretary, Chinsom Nwakanma, the group noted that the support shown by the South-East community played a significant role in the party’s performance during the polls.

According to the group, during the campaign period, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie KaluDeputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, who served as Secretary of the APC Campaign Council for the election, had appealed to South-East residents in the FCT to support the party by voting for its candidates.

It said the response to the call was encouraging and contributed significantly to the party’s victory in five of the six area councils.

“We sincerely appreciate the South-East residents in the FCT for standing with the Deputy Speaker and supporting APC candidates during the election. Their solidarity and participation played a vital role in the successes recorded by the party,” the statement said.

The APC Integrity Group also highlighted the leadership profile and achievements of Kalu, describing him as one of the most influential voices of the South-East in national politics.

Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

A lawyer, policy advocate and experienced legislator, he has distinguished himself through parliamentary leadership and commitment to national unity and inclusive governance.

The group noted that since assuming office, Kalu has played a key role in promoting legislative reforms, strengthening democratic institutions and supporting policies aimed at economic growth and national development.

It also acknowledged his involvement in initiatives aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation and national integration.

According to the group, Kalu’s growing national stature and strategic position in government have increased political visibility and representation for the South-East region.

“Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has demonstrated capacity, competence and commitment to national service. His leadership continues to open new opportunities for the South-East within the national political space,” the statement added.

The group therefore urged South-East residents in the FCT and across the country to continue supporting the Deputy Speaker, noting that sustained backing for credible leaders from the region would strengthen the zone’s voice in national affairs.

It also called for unity, cooperation and active participation among South-East residents in the FCT and across Nigeria in support of progressive leadership and national development.
