Twist of Fate as Ganduje Bows to Sanusi’s The prolong Emirship tussle took fresh dimension on Tuesday as Ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje publicly acknowledged Muhamnadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.
Ganduje made the official recognition during the swearing ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo at the Government House, an event that attracted top political and traditional figures in Kano.
The former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) paid the due traditional recognition while observing protocols of the special guest on the high take in sequence.
Ganduje attracted the audience applause when he addressed Sanusi as “Your royal highness the emir of Kano” immediately after recognizing speaker of the state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibrin Falgore who sat next to Sanusi.
The unprecedented acknowledgement came eight years after Ganduje balkanize Kano emirate council into five independent emirate council reducing traditional authority of Sanusi to eight local government areas.
Ganduje then Governor subsequently in 2020 dethroned the for Central Bank Governor and replaced him with Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero, son of the 14th emir of Kano.
Although, fate returned Sanusi back on through soon after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assumed power, Ganduje had continued to pay loyalty to Aminu Bayero as Emir of Kano while the legal tussle reserve for Judgement at the Supreme Court.
Shortly after taken oath of office the new Deputy Governor Hon. Murtala Sule Garo renewed loyalty to his principal and restated commitment to support policies and program to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Kano.
The new Deputy Governor who expressed sincere appreciation to Governor Yusuf for finding him worthy of nomination for the seat, vowed to remain committed to service, teamwork and continuity of Governor Yusuf policies.
” Let me express my sincere appreciation to his excellency, the executive governor of Kano State, engineer Aladji Abba Kabir Yusif, for the competence you have placed in me. I accept this responsibility as a call to serve and to support your leadership in advancing the development of Kano State. I also thank the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirming my nomination under my brother Aladji Jibril Sama’i Labal Ghori.
“To the people of Kano State, I remain committed to your service this moment for teamwork and continuity. Your excellency has set a clear direction through the Kano past agenda. My role is to support and is to support that vision and ensure that government policies deliver a real result for our people”. Garo added.
Governor Yusuf on his part disclosed that the selection of Garo was based on merit given his worth of experience, political dexterity and capacity to deliver entrusted responsibility.
Describing the new Deputy as seasoned and accomplished political figure who has demonstrated capacity, loyalty, and dedication to public service over the years, Governor Yusuf cited the role of Garo in several political appointments held while serving previous administrations.
Gov. Yusuf urged the new Deputy Governor to bring his wealth of experience, energy, and commitment to bearing while discharging the new responsibilities. The Governor demanded 100 per cent loyalty reminded that “there is no issue of 99 percent as far as loyalty is concerned”.
“You should be one who works in harmony with the leadership, one who offers wise counsels, and one who supports government policies, and who stands firmly for the principles that define our administration.
“I expect your full cooperation and contribution in advancing our shared vision of inclusive governance, sustainable development, and effective service delivery. We will intensify efforts to improve infrastructure, strengthen education, and healthcare systems, empower our youth, and expand on economic opportunities while maintaining the peace and stability that define our state.” Yusuf hinted.
The occasion was witnessed by former Governor Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy President of Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, members of the National Assembly from Kano, former and serving ministers from Kano, Presidential media aide, Abdulazeez Abdulazeez among other top personalities.
