Gombe State New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Khamisu Mailantarki, has distributed 50 cars and 500 motorcycles to party officials and supporters across the state.
Speaking at his Gombe residence where the items were distributed, Mailantarki said that he was merely appreciating the support of his party members in the state.
According to him, his quest to govern Gombe is aimed at liberating the people from bad governance under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He added that the gesture was to boost the morale of party members, especially in helping NNPP to deliver the message of hope to the nooks and crannies of the state as the election draws nearer.
Mailantaki said: “We aren’t in government yet, but we felt indebted by the support we consistently get from our party leaders and supporters across the state and this gesture is to modestly recognise and appreciates individuals and collective efforts of the beneficiaries.
“I am used to this,” he said, recalling: “When I was in the House of Representatives, I gave out cars, tricycles, and motorcycles, which no one has replicated till today.”
The governorship hopeful appealed to other NNPP members not included in the empowerment to exercise patience, as more empowerment schemes are on the way.
Responding, the NNPP state Chair, who also benefited, commended Mailantarki, charging his fellow beneficiaries to make adequate use of the items. He promised that the party officials will double their efforts in promoting the party to ensure that Mailantarki wins the state next year.
