…Urges respect for APC primary outcome

A political support group, Omo Ibadan Tokan Tokan, on Tuesday cautioned former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, against engaging in activities capable of undermining the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) amid developments surrounding the party’s governorship race in Oyo State.

In a statement issued recently, the group urged Adelabu and other aspirants to abide by the party’s rules and respect the outcome of the APC governorship primary whenever it is conducted.

The group stressed that while every aspirant has the constitutional right to pursue political ambition, such aspirations should be pursued within the framework of party discipline and democratic principles.

According to the statement, the APC’s internal processes must be respected by all stakeholders to preserve the party’s cohesion and strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It urged Adelabu to accept the outcome of the party’s candidate selection process and work with the eventual flagbearer in the interest of the party.

“No individual ambition should supersede the collective interest of the APC. The party has established procedures for selecting its candidates, and all members are expected to abide by those procedures,” the group said.

The group also warned against actions capable of creating disaffection within the party, including what it described as premature campaigns and activities that could be construed as anti-party conduct.

It noted that internal disagreements should be resolved through established party mechanisms rather than actions that could weaken the APC’s electoral prospects.

The group further called on party members and supporters across the state to prioritise unity, peace and reconciliation as the APC prepares for future political contests.

It maintained that a united front would enhance the party’s chances of reclaiming power in Oyo State in 2027.
