Jonathan’s kinsmen dump PDP
No fewer than 2, 000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, including an aspirant from Ogbia Local Council, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s home, have defected to the Advanced Peoples Democratic Party Alliance (APDA).
The defectors, who protested in Yenagoa, the state capital, lamented that an unpopular candidate and incumbent member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mietema Obodor, was imposed on them by some godfathers in the council.
They alleged that their preferred candidate for Ogbia Constituency 1, Mr. Azibataman Johnbull, was rigged out in Otuoke, Jonathan’s hometown.
Recall also that other aspirants who felt aggrieved by the outcome of the party primaries in the state left the party over alleged imposition, lack of level playing ground and godfatherism, the exercise was almost marred by violence.
Former Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President, Udengs Eradiri, former Senator Nimi Amange and others, have since dumped PDP for other parties, as a result of the primaries.
