• Ex-militant leader donates 30 vehicles for mobilisation
A political mobilisation group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu has set a target of between 1.5 million and two million votes for him in Osun State in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
The target was announced on Saturday in Osogbo during the inauguration of the state and local government structures of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, alongside the donation of 30 vehicles and other campaign materials by its Grand Patron, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
The mobilisation initiative has the backing of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who urged supporters across political party lines to work towards securing a decisive victory for Tinubu.
Osun has 2,339,233 registered voters, while 1,906,390 have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), according to figures presented at the event.
Speaking through the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Kestin Pondi, Tompolo urged the people of Osun to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing him as a fellow Yoruba and a president whose economic reforms deserved continuity.
He challenged the state to deliver at least 90 per cent of the votes cast for the president, arguing that Tinubu’s policies had improved the financial capacity of state governments and created opportunities for investment.
He said: “We are in Osun State canvassing for votes for a man who has done so well for the South-West because we believe in the man. We believe in the man’s reform agenda, and we believe that the man is what Nigeria needs at this point.”
Listing what he considered the achievements of the administration, Tompolo cited the removal of fuel queues, economic stability, increased government revenue and improved capacity of states to meet their financial obligations.
He said the Federal Government’s reforms had enabled governors to pay salaries and pensions and execute major infrastructure projects.
“Today, your governor has money to execute projects because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was bold enough to start his reforms. Today, salaries are paid on time because the man was bold enough to start his reforms,” he said.
Tompolo argued that Tinubu’s decision to implement difficult economic reforms in his first term, rather than defer them until a possible second term, demonstrated his commitment to Nigeria’s development.
“If we must allow him to continue doing what he’s doing and move Nigeria to where Nigeria should be in the committee of nations, then we need to give him a second term. That’s why we’re in Osun State.
“We know that you’re already going to vote for your brother. We know that you’re already going to vote for your son. But what we have come to tell you is that we don’t want your vote to be less than 90 per cent. We want you to give him as many votes as you have.
If you can give him 100 per cent, give him 100 per cent,” he said.
Governor Adeleke, represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, said political parties and support groups in the state were working together to secure Tinubu’s re-election, despite their differences at the state level.
He described the mobilisation as a coalition that cuts across party boundaries, saying the president’s re-election had become its common political objective.
“Our unity of purpose and determination to join hands for the re-election of Mr President is manifested today by this assembly of supporters across party lines. We all gathered here solely to promote and market Mr President for continuity,” he said.
Adeleke commended Tompolo for supporting the mobilisation initiative, describing his intervention as timely and important to the presidential campaign.
He urged the coalition partners to set aside previous political disagreements and work towards delivering between 1.5 million and two million votes for Tinubu.
“As we move out to the corners and grassroots of Osun society, I must repeat that our partnership and coalition unity is mainly based on the presidential election,” he said.
Similarly, Oyetola said the growing support for Tinubu beyond the APC was an indication that his re-election campaign was attracting interest across political divides.
The minister, who was represented by the APC governorship candidate in the August 2026 Osun governorship election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, said the South-West had a responsibility to translate its political support for Tinubu into votes.
He said: “I appreciate the fact that the re-election project of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to attract support beyond the traditional boundaries of our great political party, APC. It cuts across party lines.
“Individuals and political interests are increasing tremendously, recognising the importance of continuity and the need to sustain the reforms and development programme of our president’s administration.”
Oyetola urged party leaders and grassroots mobilisers to ensure that the support being expressed for Tinubu was reflected in votes at polling units.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, urged Osun residents to support the president’s second-term bid, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms and policy decisions had justified another term.
Asuku called on voters to turn out in large numbers on January 16, 2027, saying the state had more than 1.9 million PVC-holding voters whose support the movement hoped to secure for Tinubu.
