The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has unanimously expelled its Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, and eight other members from the party.
The decision to expel the said members was part of the resolutions reached by the party’s organ during its meeting in Kaduna.
Specifically, the party alleged that the expelled members, including the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Idris Musa, were found guilty of alleged gross misconduct such as insubordination, holding illegal and secret meetings to usurp leadership, falsification of documents, and extortion of party members, all of which are capable of tarnishing the image of the party, the ADC.
Other expelled members include the State Vice Chairman for Zone 1, Sulaiman Abdullahi; the State Treasurer, Gambo Sani; the State Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; and the State Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa.
Those who also appeared on the expulsion list were the State Coordinator of the PWD, Saura Muhammed; the State Deputy Youth Leader, Ibrahim Muhammed; and Mansur Gaga.
Addressing a press conference shortly after its meeting, the Chairman of the party, Elder Patrick Ambut, maintained that the leadership of ADC in Kaduna State remains committed to peace, discipline, and the rule of law as enshrined in the party’s constitution.
Ambut explained that the actions of the deputy chairman constituted an abuse of office and impersonation, adding that these actions were tantamount to causing disharmony within the party in the state and the North West zone at large.
“As law-abiding members of the ADC party, we are committed to upholding the Constitution of the party and ensuring the integrity of our party’s structure,” he said.
He insisted that the deputy chairman’s action constitutes a gross violation of the ADC Constitution and is contrary to established party procedures.
“The deputy chairman acted without due process, as he lacks the constitutional authority to convene any meeting or issue such directives,” the ADC chairman stressed.
While fielding questions from newsmen, Ambut disclosed that the State Executive Committee (SEC), the Local Government Chairmen of the party across the state, and other stakeholders in attendance unanimously agreed that the Deputy State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Alex Tagwai, should immediately assume the role of the State Publicity Secretary in an acting capacity until formal adjustments are made in due course.
