… Signs Prosperity Contract with Constituents.
Candidate of the Labour Party in Abia state for the Bende House of Representatives Constituency for the 2027 election Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso has intensified bid to win the election against the incumbent Deputy Speaker of the said House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the candidate of the APC who is contesting for a third term.
Anyaso yesterday in his latest strive, publicly signed what he tagged
“The Bende Prosperity Contract.”
with the constituents stating that the Contract is not a manifesto full of big English and bigger lies, but a covenant between the constituents and himself, ” written in plain words so that even our children can read it and hold me to it”.
The Contract was signed at Uzuakoli, said to be central in the Constituency comprising Umunna and Ikwuishii Blocs who produce elective offices in turns/rotation.
Dr Anyaso is of Umunna Bloc while Hon Kalu is of Ikwuisii. over 33 groups from the entire constituency, were announced to be in attendance to witness the contract signing held at the Community Town Hall.
Apparently speaking on the quality of persons that should be elected into offices and their expected performance, the LP candidate ( Anyaso ) posited that “anyone who devalues his own people does not deserve to carry their name, much less carry their voice to Abuja.
“‘You do not learn these things in Abuja. You carry them from your mother’s compound, from the church, and from the market square hence , if a man does not carry character from home, Abuja cannot give it to him”.
He described it as a deceit
when a project is funded with public money, and a man stands up to claim he single handedly “gave” it as a favor, including when a man who uses public funds to buy people’s loyalty is treating them like beggars in their own father’s house, maintaining that Bende people are not beggars!
According to Dr Anyaso, his task in Abuja is simple: to attract quality projects; roads, hospitals, schools, and real skills for the youth.
” These projects belong to you, come from your own tax money and your own needs. I will never stand before you tomorrow and claim to be the giver of what are already yours”.
On the coming election, he urged the constituents, the young people in particular, not to allow selves to be recruited as instruments of destruction because as much as we love you, we will not allow you to destroy our peaceful Bende.
” No election is worth your life. No politician’s ambition is worth destroying your future. Don’t let them cheat you twice; they steal the money meant for meaningful projects in your communities and then they give you small of that money to destroy your life for their ambition, don’t accept it”
He added , ” do not also allow anybody to intimidate you because you have chosen to support me, or allow anybody to tell you that this coming election has already been decided.
” We are winning this election, the power belongs to you. And when that mandate is given, your votes must count.
” Any one contemplating intimidation, manipulation or electoral malpractice, must not mistake our peaceful disposition for weakness.
” Come January, we will not allow anyone trample on the rights of Ndi Bende to choose their representative. We will go any lengths to protect our people and ensure their voices are heard.
” Do not allow yourselves to be recruited as instruments of destruction because as much as we love you, we will not allow you to destroy our peaceful Bende”.
Assuring them of his commitment concerning the political offices rotation understanding between Umunna and Ikwuisii Blocs, he promised to respect it with the knowledge that power is not a personal property.
” Because our sons and daughters must know that there is a future for them in public service. At the appropriate time, I will support an Ikwuisii candidate to take up the responsibility of representing Bende.
” No individual must therefore seize political space indefinitely and truncate the legitimate aspirations of the next generation. Leadership must create successors, not permanent occupants”, he informed.
He therefore tasked Bende Constituents to read, analyse and question the Contract where necessary , and do the needful.
He told them ” if you give me your mandate, hold me to it, I am ready to build relationships, negotiate, report back, speak up, collaborate, protect trust and pursue every legitimate opportunities available to us”.
The constituents who spoke in turns, corroborated that Bende desperately needs good and effective representation in the national assembly, describing Dr Anyaso as their new hope devinely inspired.
Dr Anyaso according to them, is selfless and accessible, and that going by what he already did from outside public office, they believe he will do more than anybody before him had done for them.
Specifically, they cited a Nursery school his Chima Anyaso Foundation ( CAF ) established in Igbere in 2006, stating that it has grown into a modern primary school.
And that 18 years after, it has graduated over 600 pupils, even as the salaries of the teachers and workers, etc were all at his expense.
