THE Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress yesterday commended the State House of Assembly for speedy and prompt passage of the state’s 2016 budget sent to it by Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode.
The party said by such patriotic action, the Assembly has kick-started the state government’s resolve to unleash rapid development for the benefits of the people.
The Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Joe Igbokwe described the prompt action of the lawmakers on the budget to signify the eagerness of both arms of government to take Lagos to the next level in 2016 “the gesture signifies a commendable meeting point for all spheres of government in Lagos to work in synergy to pursue the rapid development of the state in 2016 to reflect the programmes and manifesto of our great party, APC.”
According to Igbokwe, “By expediting action on the budget, the state assembly is buying into the expressed eagerness of the Ambode’s administration to pursue the fast paced development of Lagos and make the state more better and responsive to the demands of the people in 2016. The Assembly, by this action, signifies a readiness to collaborate with the executive to pursue the ambitious agenda to continue the rapid progress in Lagos for the past 16 years.
He noted that the party is happy over the cordial relationship built on shared progressive belief, mutual respect and convergence of ideas between the Assembly and the executive as we believe this will work to the advantage of Lagosians in the coming years. We see the prompt passage of the budget as a means of deepening the mutual understanding between the various arms of government in Lagos towards pursuing the lofty aspiration to make Lagos to continue to excel in progress, good governance and rule of law.”
