The Lagos State House of Assembly has resumed plenary, almost a month after the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker of the House over alleged financial misconduct, and abuse of office.

The Lagos State House of Assembly has resumed plenary, almost a month after the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker of the House over alleged financial misconduct, and abuse of office.

Obasa was absent at the plenary but about 36 lawmakers were present.

The House commended the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, emphasising fiscal reforms, economic resurgence, and social welfare improvements.

The lawmakers pledged their loyalty to the President for his political leadership, following a motion under personal explanation by the lawmaker representing Epe Constituency I, Abiodun Tobun, during the plenary.

Tobun, who noted that there was room for improvement, said there was also the need to commend the President for taking bold decisions to fix the economy.

Speaker of the House, Mojisola Meranda, thanked the President and the First Lady for their leadership roles.

The House resolved to write the President to express members’ loyalty and to commend him for his leadership of the country.

Meanwhile, the lawmakers avoided the leadership crisis rocking the Assembly, which appears not to have been rested as issues surrounding the former Speaker were not raised on the floor of the House.
