Ahead of March 2, 2019 governorship election in Lagos State, the traditional ruler of Ijora Kingdom, Oba Fatai Aromire, has welcomed the candidacy of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the standard bearers of All Progressives Congress (APC). Also, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Dogon Kada, the seventh Sarkin Hausawa of Agege, has appealed to Arewa community in Lagos to support the APC candidate.

While speaking when Sanwo-Olu and his campaign team paid him a courtesy at his palace yesterday, Oba Aromire enjoined Lagosians to vote massively for the ruing party in the election, even as he promised to work for the success of the candidate. The monarch pleaded with Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat to pay attention to issues and welfare of traditional rulers in the state if elected.

While publicly endorsing Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat by raising their hands up, Oba Aromire assured APC leadership that he and other traditional rulers in his domain would deliver seven councils within their jurisdiction for the standard bearer.

Meanwhile, during an interaction with Sanwo-Olu campaign team, the Arewa community in the state said there exists a history of cordial relationship with the Yoruba, particularly under APC government. The group declared that in view of that history and the quest to maintain mutual trust, peace, and prosperity between the Hausa and the Yoruba, and most importantly, to confirm sustained political loyalty to the good people of Lagos, who have been magnanimous hosts, it would host Arewa Festival and Awards Lagos 2018, where the likes of Bola Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, among others, would be recognised.
