Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that he is convinced that the people of Ogbomoso Zone are solidly behind his re-election bid. Makinde, who expressed the confidence after he held consultative and town-hall meetings with the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso Zone, said that the feedbacks at the meetings held at the Lagbami Osekun Hall, Ogbomoso South Local Council Headquarters, Arowomole and the Soun Ogunlola Hall, Ogbomoso, on Wednesday and yesterday were encouraging.

The governor, who urged the Ogbomoso electorate to re-elect him to enjoy sustainable development, which is the mantra of Omituntun 2.0, promised to keep working on the developmental demands of every zone of the state based on the resources at disposal.

Makinde, while speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting at the Lagbami Osekun Hall, Ogbomoso, said that the essence of the meeting was to resolve the internal crises in the zone before the elections.

Also speaking at the Ogunlola Hall venue of the town-hall meeting, the governor maintained that all demands made by the people, including the appointment of a new Soun of Ogbomoso, would be addressed. He, however, said that due process would be followed in the appointment of the next Soun.

The governor had also used the occasion of the meeting to refund the nomination fees of all aspirants who lost out in the 2023 National and State Assembly elections as he did in Oyo Zone, while he also announced the immediate approval of furniture allowance to local council officials in the state.

According to the governor, 50 per cent of the money will be paid immediately, while the balance would be paid in January.

MEANWHILE, students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, yesterday, lauded Makinde over the suspension of the no-tuition-no-examination policy of the institution.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by Anuoluwa Adeboye (President), Okiki Ibrahim Opaleke (General Secretary) and Love Gabriel Michael (Public Relations Officer) of the Students Union Government (SUG).
