My people want me to be governor – Alao-Akala
Action Democratic Party (ADP) Oyo State governorship candidate, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has disclosed that he rejected the senatorial ticket offered him by his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) because his loyalists want him to run for the office of governor.
Alao-Akala, a former governor of the state, said this, yesterday, while on a live radio programme in Ibadan, the state capital. Following his loss of the gubernatorial ticket, he defected to ADP. He promised to stop the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso with Osun State on his first day in office.
“The Commissioner of Education is perhaps the first person I will appoint and I will give him instructions to carry out this assignment,” he said.
He also reacted to the rumour that his son, Olamiju, a local government chairman, would be made deputy to APC gubernatorial candidate, maintaining that nobody would do that without the incumbent governor’s consent.
