Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that a delegation of the national leadership of the Kwankwasiya Movement held a closed-door meeting with the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and members of the NDC leadership as part of efforts to resolve internal issues within the party in Kano State.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., and made available through the party’s official X handle.

According to the statement, the meeting, which took place on Monday night, focused on addressing disagreements between the Kwankwasiya Movement and legacy officials of the NDC in Kano State.

The party noted that Senator Dickson and the national leadership are actively mediating in the reconciliation process to foster unity, inclusion, and broader participation among members of the party.

The statement emphasized the commitment of the NDC to internal democracy, assuring party members that candidates would not be imposed in Kano State or any other part of the country.

“The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation, as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy,” the statement said.

The party described the meeting as productive, noting that discussions lasted several hours and yielded positive outcomes aimed at strengthening cohesion within the party ahead of future political activities.

The NDC also addressed reports circulating on social media and other platforms regarding the outcome of its primary elections, clarifying that no official results have been released in any state of the federation.

The party urged members and the general public to disregard any purported lists of successful candidates currently in circulation, insisting that such information did not emanate from its official channels.

“The NDC has not released any official results of its primary elections in any state. Hence, the public and party members are urged to disregard any such list in circulation,” the statement added.

The meeting is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the party’s leadership to maintain unity and ensure a transparent and inclusive process as preparations continue for upcoming political engagements.
