…Over 1,000 participants gather at Mountain Top University for week-long competition

The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, has said the church will continue to create platforms that enable young people to discover their talents, develop their skills and fulfil their God-given potential.
Olukoya stated this on Monday while declaring open the MFM Youth Games at the Sports Complex of Mountain Top University, Prayer City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Represented by Pastor Kunle Adesanya, Senior Regional Overseer and Assembly Pastor at the MFM International Headquarters, Olukoya described the Games as part of his Youth Repositioning Agenda, a 70-point holistic empowerment initiative aimed at steering young people away from social vices, addressing unemployment and strengthening their spiritual, moral and economic capacities.
He said the initiative was designed to provide talented Nigerian youths with opportunities to develop their abilities, draw closer to Christ and fulfil their purpose.

“The Youth Repositioning Agenda is aimed at giving talented Nigerian youths the opportunity to develop their skills to the highest level, draw them to Christ, and help them fulfil purpose,” he said.
Over 1,000 participants
More than 1,000 young boys, girls and adults from MFM Mega Regions are participating in the week-long competition, which features football, basketball, athletics, table tennis, chess and scrabble.

The organisers said the Games go beyond sporting competition, describing them as a platform for identifying, nurturing and transforming talents into productive skills while promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
They said the initiative was also intended to encourage participants to look beyond their present circumstances and recognise the potential within them.

“The ultimate goal is to help youths understand that their future is not defined solely by their present circumstances. With the right guidance, opportunities and determination, their talents can become tools for personal development and meaningful contribution to society,” the organisers said.

‘Sports drawing youths closer to Christ’

Athletes and coaches who spoke with The Guardian expressed excitement about the competition, saying the Games were helping participants discover their abilities while strengthening their relationship with Christ.
They said bringing young people together through sports and healthy competition was creating an environment where they could dream, identify their strengths and pursue their aspirations.

The organisers said the Games would continue to provide opportunities for the youths to develop both their sporting abilities and personal values, with the broader objective of preparing them for productive roles in society.
