No harm, persecution must come to Peter Obi, Adeyanju warns APC
Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has warned the All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership against any harm or persecution of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.
Obi, on Monday, alleged that his life is under threat following his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Obi’s allegations came after an interview by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka on Arise TV.
He said, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets.”
Morka also described Obi as an “irrational being”.
The former governor of Anambra State had in his New Year’s message on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, criticised Tinubu, saying “corruption has been deeply entrenched in government” while “nepotism has become the norm on Tinubu’s watch”.
He also lashed out at the president over the hardship in the country.
Reacting to the development on Tuesday in Abuja, Adeyanju condemned the alleged threat to Peter Obi, warning that no harm or persecution must come to him.
According to the lawyer, criticising and holding the government accountable cannot be a crime but should be commended as the greatest sign of patriotism.
He stated: “I condemn the threat to HE Peter Obi’s life for been a vocal voice of opposition in Nigeria.
“No harm or persecution must come to him. Criticizing and holding the government accountable cannot be a crime but must be commended as the greatest sign of patriotism.
“Nigeria is sinking into a full blown dictatorship and a one party state before our very eyes and all the concerns of HE Peter Obi are timely and spot on.”
