Chairman of the Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Francis Orogu, has said the party has concluded its zoning arrangement peradventure it won the 2019 governorship seat in the state.

Orogu gave the hint recently after a caucus meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lafia.

According to Orogu, “We have zoned the governorship seat to Nasarawa north, deputy governor to the South West, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to Southern senatorial zone and speaker to South west.”

The chairman said it is now left for the respective zones to bring out the candidate to feel up the various seats.

He stressed: “No micro zoning as the case maybe.

We may go into consensus if the party so decides otherwise we will go to primaries.”

Orogu also expressed hope that with the zoning arrangement, the party is ready to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa, come 2019.

Explaining the reason for zoning the governorship to the north, Orogu said it remains the only area that is yet to produce a governor since 1999 “it is therefore necessary to give the area the opportunity in the next election.”

He further hinted that the party is expecting to receive defectors from the APC and other parties soon.

On the ongoing talks about coalition, Orogu said PDP is open and would be ready to enter into coalition same way it is done at the national level to rescue the state from the economic woe the ruling party has plunged it..
