Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday arrived in Minna, the Niger State capital and immediately headed to the hilltop residence of the former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB). The meeting political watchers say might not be unconnected with pressing national issues that bordered on the current economic challenges.

He flew in from Benin City, where he attended the 90th birthday of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion at the weekend.

At the residence of Babangida, another former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) and former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Gusau (rtd), were also waiting for Obasanjo.

The four elder statesmen were locked in a closed-door meeting for about an hour before Obasanjo left Minna around 6:20 p.m.

According to a source, Obasanjo arrived in Minna in the company of 10 people and he drove straight to IBB’s residence. He was joined by General Abdulsalami Abubakar and General Aliyu Gusau.

The former president came in a chattered aircraft and landed at Minna Airport.
