Ogundipe rejects court ruling on ADC primary, heads for appeal

African Democratic Congress (ADC)

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court on the party’s governorship primary, insisting that he remains confident that the decision would be overturned on appeal.

Ogundipe was speaking against the backdrop of the development urged his supporters, party members and members of the BCO movement to remain calm and law-abiding while his legal team studies the judgment and prepares the next line of action.

He said that although he respects the authority of the court and the judicial process, he remains convinced that the evidence presented before the court supports his position.

According to him, one of the key documents tendered before the court was a letter dated July 1, 2026, and signed by the National Legal Adviser of the ADC, which, he claimed, established that Mr. Femi Soluade had ceased to function as the party’s Ogun State chairman at the time the governorship primary was conducted.

Ogundipe further argued that Soluade was never elected as the state chairman of the party but only served in an acting capacity following the resignation of the then Acting State Chairman, Hon. Itunu Abioro, on December 31, 2024.

He maintained that the evidence and documents before the court clearly outlined the leadership situation within the party at the time of the primary election.

“We believe that the truth will ultimately prevail through the appropriate legal process,” he said.

The governorship candidate disclosed that both the national legal team of the ADC and his personal legal team were reviewing the judgment and would take the necessary steps to challenge the verdict at the Court of Appeal.

He expressed confidence that the mandate he claimed was freely given to him by party members during the primary election would be restored through lawful means.

Ogundipe appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful, united, and committed to the party, assuring them that there was no cause for panic.

Truth may be delayed, but it can not be denied,” he stated.
