Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha was on Tuesday re-elected as the state chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State.

Their election took place at PA Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, which also saw Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali reelected as State Deputy Chairman, and Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke as State Secretary of the party.

The Guardian gathered that all of them, alongside 33 other State Working Committee members, were reelected to another four-year term unopposed.

The consensus arrangement was adopted through a motion moved by the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and seconded by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Moses Ije Odunwa.

He also commended the party’s leaders and stakeholders in the state for their confidence in the State Working Committee under the leadership of Chief Emegha.

Speaking to the opposition, the governor said he would ensure a level playing field and urged them to campaign with civility and decorum when the time comes.

The governor used the opportunity to thank lawmakers from Ebonyi State, both in the state and national assemblies, for their decision to join the ruling party, disclosing that all the state and national assembly members from Ebonyi State have joined the APC.

The State Chairman, Chief Okoro-Emegha, in his acceptance speech, on behalf of the 36 State Working Committee members, thanked the leader of the party in the state, the governor, and critical stakeholders for their confidence in the SWC members.

He promised to rally his colleagues to advance, protect, and project the interests of the governor, leaders and members of the party in the state.

Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, and former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mrs. Rita Maduagwu, said the consensus arrangement complied with the constitution of the party and APC guidelines for the congress.

She congratulated Chief Emegha and his State Working Committee members for their victory and urged them to work for the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially as 2027 is around the corner.
