Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has refuted a report making the rounds on social media that he is supporting a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

In statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, yesterday, the governor said the nine-paragraph statement on social media never emanated from him, stressing it “has become an easy tool for blackmail and hatchet jobs to little-minded fellows.”

Denying that the statement in question didn’t come from him, the governor disclosed, “The caption of the press release I had written and sent out was entitled, “Senator Ifeanyi Ararume cannot win APC guber ticket and cannot be governor of Imo State”.

He explained that he came up with the statement “following certain unfounded claims from their angle with regard to the outcome of the recently held NEC meeting of APC in Abuja, especially over the issue of tenure elongation.”
