The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ondo state governorship, Agboola Ajayi, has assured that if elected, the incessant sea incursion ravaging the Ayetoro community will be permanently tackled.

Ajayi said he is prepared to find a lasting solution to environmental challenges facing the community so as not to affect other riverine communities.

The PDP standard-bearer, who stated this while on campaign tour to communities in Ese-Odo Local Council, emphasised that he is prepared and equipped to lead the state.

Speaking at the palace of Igbinbou of Ajapa Kingdom, who pleaded with Ajayi to rescue the neighbouring community, the PDP candidate said, “If we get to office by next year, February, we would chase the sea away from Ayetoro Community by at least 2 kilometres; it is not going to be by magic but is something we are prepared to do.”

On his part, the monarch, Godwin Aboyewa, who stressed that the sea incursion had been threatening the continuous existence of the ancient town, maintained that if the Ayetoro community is not saved, the Ajapa kingdom might be at risk of the rapacious effect of its extinction.

The traditional ruler also informed the PDP candidate of the need for portable water and qualitative and affordable education in his community.

At Bolowo and Arogbo communities, hundreds of jubilant supporters as well as party members solidarized with the campaign train vowing to support Ajayi, whom they described as their own.

When the campaign train moved to Apoi, all the traditional rulers in the communities who converged on the Kalasuwe palace, who is the paramount ruler of Apoi land, Oba Sunday Amuseghan, led other Kings to pray for the success of Ajayi and his running mate, Festus Akingbaso.

One of the community leaders said, “Ese Odo is for Agboola Ajayi; there is no two ways to it. We are here to pray for him alongside our traditional rulers, and I am very sure our people will give him maximum support in this coming election. If anybody is saying something else, they are just deceiving themselves. The block vote is for Agbo and Fessy here.”
