Osun 2026: Omoworare declares interest in gubernatorial seat

• Advocates renaissance in Osun politics
• Voters’ll reject Adeleke for allegedly mismanaging N1tr revenue, says NIWA CEO
• Adeleke flags off two road projects, restates commitment to service

A former lawmaker that represented Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Babajide Omoworare, yesterday, declared his interest to vie for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said he was not bothered about anybody coming from outside the Osun APC to contest for the ticket, stressing that there is a need for renaissance in the politics of the state to foster good governance and socioeconomic growth of all areas in the state. Omoworare, who spoke at APC secretariat in Osogbo, said: “I want to be the governor of Osun State because there is a need for an Osun renaissance.

“Politics and governance are not just about breakfast, lunch and dinner. Politics is about delivering the basic needs, basic amenities to the people, fixing infrastructure and acting as catalysts for the economic renaissance of the people of Osun State.

SIMILARLY, Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and also an APC governorship aspirant, Bola Oyebamiji, has said that Osun State electorate would reject Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid for allegedly mismanaging the huge resources accrued to the state in the last 30 months.

Oyebamiji, who spoke during the consultation visit to Ife Federal Constituency, said the affairs of the state had been practically run aground under the current government as manifested in the poor funding of education, health, infrastructure and key sectors in the state.

Earlier at Ijesa-North federal constituency, Oyebamiji urged the APC supporters to remain calm over the purported defection of Adeleke to the APC.

MEANWHILE, despite the controversy over his rumoured defection to the APC, Adeleke, yesterday, flagged off the dualisation of Ila Township Road and the second phase of Osogbo-Ikirun-Ila Odo-Kwara State Boundary Road, restating his commitment to serving the people of the state.

He also hinted that his administration had completed the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation of over 175 kilometres of roads, while several dualisation and flyover projects are at various stages of completion.

Adeleke, while speaking at the ceremony in Ila, said that despite the lingering uncertainties in the country, he would not be distracted from his vow to serve humanity.
