As at 8:27 am, accreditation for the Osun State Governorship election had not commenced at Ward 5, Unit 12, Falaju Street, Ile-Ife.

The usual compound where voting takes place was under lock and key, causing arguments among early arrivals at the unit.

Speaking with journalists, the Presiding Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abura Oghenerume Osun Poll: Accreditation Delayed at Ile-Ife Ward 5, Unit 12 Over Locked Venue

She explained that they arrived at the polling unit as early as 8:00 a.m. but could not commence accreditation because the venue was under lock and key

According to her, the individuals in possession of the key had yet to open the facility, thus delaying the accreditation of voters.

Oghnerume said efforts were being made to assess the compound for accreditation exercise to begin.

The development has left voters waiting at the polling unit, with the delay occurring as residents of Osun State begin voting in the governorship election.
