THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles ahead of tomorrow’s governorship election in Osun State, to ensure seamless traffic management, prompt emergency response, and safe movement.

The operational assets, which include seven heavy duty tow trucks and six ambulances, are strategically positioned across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The massive deployment the corps said, is aimed at clearing road obstructions and enforcing strict compliance with the restriction of movement order during the electoral process.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, noted that the deployment reflects the agency’s commitment to supporting a peaceful, safe, and credible election in close synergy with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

“Our mandate is clear: to ensure that the roads remain safe, orderly and accessible within the framework of the electoral security arrangements.

“We will be firm, professional and impartial in the discharge of our responsibilities,” Mohammed stated.

As part of its operational preparations, the FRSC is conducting a capacity-building workshop for personnel on election duty, involving stakeholders from the Nigeria Police Force, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other security agencies.

Furthermore, the FRSC will certify vehicles provided by fleet operators for the transportation of electoral materials to ensure they meet minimum safety standards and are roadworthy before deployment.

Mohammed reiterated that the restriction of movement order will be strictly enforced from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15.

He charged operatives to maintain strict neutrality and respect human rights, while advising motorists and transport operators to plan their journeys ahead, comply with lawful traffic directives, and avoid restricted routes.

According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, the team comprises 2,300 operatives from the Osun Sector Command, supplemented by 50 personnel each from the Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, and Ogun sector commands.
