Outgoing NANS JCC chair in Anambra backs Tinubu, Soludo for re-election

The immediate past Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC) in Anambra State, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in the November 8, 2025, governorship election.

Okpara announced the endorsement during his handover ceremony to the new NANS JCC leadership, which held simultaneously at the Students’ Union Government Conference Hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, on Friday.

He said over 50,000 students across tertiary institutions in Anambra had been mobilised for Soludo’s campaign, adding that the support for both leaders was based on their ongoing projects and policies.

“We are throwing our weight behind President Tinubu and Governor Soludo’s re-election bid because the political parties, the All Progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, under which they are contesting, are both progressive in nature,” Okpara said.

According to him, Tinubu’s introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund had “removed the financial barrier to higher education for Nigerian students,” while Soludo’s programmes, including the “One Youth Two Skills” scheme, the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers, and road projects in 179 communities, were reasons for students’ backing.

He urged his successor to maintain unity among students and called on Nigerian youths to “embrace God and shun cultism and other vices.”
