Members of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have elected a former Deputy Governor of the state, Moses Alake Adeyemo, as the new chairman of the party.

Adeyemo emerged as chairman during the party’s 2026 state congress held yesterday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, amid the presence of party stakeholders, delegates and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who monitored the exercise.

The congress, conducted in line with the party’s national guidelines, also produced other members of the state executive council tasked with repositioning the party and strengthening its internal structure across the state.

The party leaders, who stressed the need for unity and reconciliation within the APC, urged members to close ranks and work collectively toward rebuilding the party’s strength in the state.

Relatedly, a former member of the House of Representatives, Kolawole Babatunde, has emerged as the new Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the APC during a state congress held in Akure, the state capital.

Babatunde, alongside 35 other members of the State Working Committee, emerged through consensus and affirmation at the congress held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome).

The state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, while addressing party members at the venue, urged them to uphold unity, discipline, and internal democracy.

However, a Federal High Court sitting in Akure, presided over by Justice Toyin Adegoke, had on Monday issued an ex parte order restraining INEC and the APC from proceeding with the congress following an application filed by aggrieved party members.

In compliance with the judicial directive, INEC officials were conspicuously absent at the congress.

In a related vein, Chairman of the APC in Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi, has secured a second term in office.

Ojelabi was re-elected, yesterday, at the party’s state congress held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
IN another development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated newly elected executives in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Ayetoro, drew party leaders and a large turnout of members from across the constituency.

However, the APC in Ogun State has elected Yemi Sanusi and 35 others to its State Executive Committee for a four-year term.

The election was ratified by a voice vote of 1,180 delegates, including statutory delegates, at the State Congress held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta.

The exercise was supervised by the APC Congress Committee Chairman, Wale Ohu, alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sanusi was re-elected as State Chairman, while other officials elected include Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader, Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary, and Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who spoke at the event, emphasised that internal democracy must be genuinely practised, rather than merely proclaimed.

He said that patronage politics and backroom bargaining should give way to principled leadership and transparent processes.
