PDP dismisses suspension of Ikem as Cross Rivers chairman
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the purported suspension of the Chairman of the Cross River State Chapter of the party, Barr. Venatius Ikem, is null and void.
The NWC declared that the suspension is of no effect because it is not consistent with provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and the laid down rules of the party.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Wednesday.
According to Ologunagba, no State Working Committee has the power whatsoever to suspend a State Chairman without due recourse to the NWC as provided by the Constitution of the PDP.
He said the NWC affirms Ikem as the Chairman of the Cross River State Chapter of the PDP and charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, members and supporters of the party in the state and the nation to disregard the purported suspension.
He said the NWC urged PDP members in the state to remain united and continue to work together in the overall interest of the party.
