PDP New Generation unveils national youth campaign council

A youth group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) New Generation has unveiled its National Youth Campaign Council (NYCC) to ensure victory for the party’s candidates in the 2023 elections.

A youth group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) New Generation has unveiled its National Youth Campaign Council (NYCC) to ensure victory for the party’s candidates in the 2023 elections.

This is in line with the mandate of the group’s National Strategic Committee (NSC) to steer the second phase of Operation Rescue Nigeria with the theme R.E.S.E.T Nigeria.

The group appointed Hauwa Atiku-Uwais as Chairperson of the NSC, Audu Mahmood as Director General, NYCC and six zonal Deputy Director Generals (DDGs).

The six zonal DDGs are Hon. Monsuru Oloyede (South West); Dr. Ugo Williams, (South East); Chief Mrs Shimite Bello (South-South); Hon. Abdullah Abe, (North West); Engr. Shima Ayu (North Central); and Hon. Abdulkadir Hashidu (North East).

According to a statement by the Lead Spokesperson, NYCC, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, the NYCC will focus on an issue-based campaign, targeting mainly young men and women across the country.

“The council will complement the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in ensuring victory for the Presidential, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, House of Reps and Assembly candidates of the PDP in the 2023 general elections.

“The NYCC will have over 1,500 young persons with an advisory board of notable Nigerians. The full list with names of directors, members and details for the official flag off and inauguration of the NYCC is expected to be announced and published in the next few days,” he said.

Akinniyi further noted that Hauwa-Atiku, the Chairperson of NSC will play a supervisory role, while the Director-General will coordinate the administration and operations of the NYCC and the six zonal deputy director-generals would lead the field operation of their respective Zones, States, Senatorial, Local, Ward and Polling Unit Managers.

“The Campaign Secretariat will be headed by the Campaign Secretary. Also, six zonal spokespersons have also been appointed to drive the narrative scheme of the Campaign Council.

“The Directorates under this Campaign structure are to handle critical and specific tasks using innovative, creative and strategic approaches, to further reinforce the mission and objective of the NYCC.

Major Directorates in the Council – Contact and Social Mobilisation; Security and Intelligence; Research and Innovation; Protocol and Welfare; Youth Mobilisation, Strategic Communications and Publicity; Electioneering Strategy and Special Duties; Symposiums and Messaging; Planning and Monitoring; Diaspora and Sports; Creative and Entertainment; ICT/Operations; New Media and Grassroots Campaign.

“Each Directorate is headed by a Director with Deputy Director(s), a Secretary and Members,” Akinniyi said.
