PDP remains united, strong, formidable, says Jang

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has remained united and strong at the national level. Besides, it is the only political party in Nigeria that has not split into factions since its inception

It is unarguable that the party is solidly built on a formidable and strong foundation by its founders, as it remains unshaken despite prevailing circumstances.

These are the words of former Governor Jonah David Jang, who spoke at the PDP caucus meeting in Jos on Monday. He, however, lampooned some founding members of the party who had strayed, stating that a true founding father will not abandon his house, no matter the level of provocation.

Jang said, “Even though some individuals who once claimed to be founding fathers of the party have strayed, I ask, can a true founding father abandon his own house? Many of you have held high positions within the PDP. Today, you jump here; tomorrow, you jump there, all in search of personal gain, not for the good of the people you claim to represent.”

He maintained that before the last general election, quite a number of the party stalwarts stood firm and insisted that since the late President Buhari hailed from the Northern part of the country and was about to complete his eight years, the presidency should be zoned to the Southern part of the country, adding that some manipulated the process and used resources to force their way in as candidates.

Jang argued that the chairmanship position of the PDP should be returned to the North Central after the tenure of the incumbent chairman, Umar Damagum, to balance the political equation.

He said, “We had it with Iyorcha Ayu, but he messed us up. After Damagun from the Northeast completes his tenure, it should be returned to the North Central, where it originally belongs. We have the capacity to take the party to the next level. Therefore, let’s support the only governor of PDP from the Central Zone. Plateau State PDP must remain united as a political party; nothing will scare us because we know who we are and know where we stand.”

He further stressed that, “Those who do not love the PDP cannot pretend to love it now. True love for the party is demonstrated through loyalty, not political gymnastics. Today, we are here to support and stand behind the only PDP governor in the North Central. That’s maturity. That’s responsibility.

“We were created and positioned at the centre of Nigeria by divine design—not by accident. Those who try to scatter us, divide us, or use us to sell out—God will not allow them to succeed. And those who betray this hope will face God’s judgment.”

The caucus passed a vote of confidence and endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, his deputy, and all members of the state executives for a second term, according to the communiqué issued at the end of the Plateau North PDP caucus meeting, signed by the Chairman of the zone, Mr. Davou Mang.

It declared that the endorsement was based on the performance of the governor and his deputy in the last two years. It commended the duo for their uncommon infrastructural, economic, and other developmental strides that have transformed the state in just two years.
