‘PDP senators may vote Ndume for senate president’

The Senators-elect caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have thrown its weight behind the candidature of Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume for the election of president of the 9th Senate holding on Tuesday.

A source said unlike last dispensation the PDP senators are not demanding the seat of Deputy Senate President. The All Progressives Congress has 52 senators while PDP has 44. Just like the last time, if all PDP senators vote for a candidate it could shape, who is the Senate President, especially with divided votes from APC. While the APC has endorsed Senator Ahmad Lawan from Yobe State, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume from Borno has insisted the race must go on despite the party’s position.
