PDP urges swift action against Benue killings

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong call for urgent and decisive government action following the tragic loss of over 200 lives in recent attacks on communities in Benue State.

In a press statement released on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP condemned the attacks as “gruesome” and “traumatic,” describing the violence as part of a disturbing trend of insecurity under the current administration.

The party called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take personal charge of the security situation and demonstrate leadership in the face of escalating violence.

“The President must rise to the occasion, visit affected communities, and ensure that urgent and coordinated security measures are put in place,” the statement read.

While criticizing what it describes as an “unserious” and “unconcerned” response from the federal government, the PDP expressed admiration for the efforts of Nigeria’s security personnel.

“We commend our security forces for their gallantry and sacrifices despite operating under extreme conditions and leadership challenges,” said Hon. Debo Ologunagba, PDP National Publicity Secretary.

The party also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property must remain the government’s top priority.

The PDP urged President Tinubu to prioritize national security over politics, warning that continued inaction could further erode public confidence and endanger more lives across the country.

As communities in Benue continue to mourn, there is growing nationwide demand for justice, accountability, and a comprehensive security strategy to restore peace and safeguard the lives of all Nigerians.
