Jerry Alagboso of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency of House of Representatives in Imo State.Declaring the results yesterday at the state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Owerri, the Returning Officer, Prof. Chimezie Madufor, said the incumbent Alagboso polled 21,273 votes to beat others to the seat.

He thanked the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Francis Ezeonu, for his forthrightness. Ezeonu, who made the announcement against the backdrop of earlier alleged malfeasances, ruled out reruns in the state.

Meanwhile, a PDP chieftain, Prof. Protus Nathan Uzoma, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) could not win this weekend’s governorship election in the state

During a press conference in reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory, he hinted that the opposition parties were resistant to “manipulation.”He said: “APC is banking on rigging the governorship election just as they did in the last election. But the truth of the matter is, it is not going to work for them this Saturday.

“The Imo governorship election can not be rigged by APC because PDP, as a political party and other political parties in Imo, are aware of their manipulations and have provided measures to resist the manipulating plans and tendencies of APC as a political party.”
