Remain hopeful, Aborisade tells Oyo ADC members, supporters

Barrister Niyi Aborisade

Chief Niyi Aborisade of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, has urged party members and supporters to remain hopeful amid the ongoing legal dispute over the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Aborisade expressed confidence that his name and that of the party’s governorship hopeful, Dr Gbemileke Alagbe, popularly known as Eleniyan, would eventually appear on the official list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He spoke while reacting to concerns over the latest INEC list, which still contains Adegboyega’s name as the ADC governorship candidate in Oyo State.

Aborisade maintained that the appearance of a name on a list that may seem final does not necessarily mean the dispute has been concluded, particularly when the matter remains before a court of law.

“What appears to be the final list is not the final list. It is subject to a court order,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the outcome of the ongoing judicial process would pave the way for the recognition of the Alagbe-Aborisade ticket, urging supporters not to interpret the publication of the current INEC list as the end of the legal battle.

Aborisade said the court’s decision and any consequential orders would be critical in determining the party’s recognised candidates for the election.

The dispute has drawn attention to the question of the authentic ADC governorship candidates in Oyo State, with supporters of the Alagbe-Aborisade ticket maintaining that the judicial process could affect the current candidate listing.

Aborisade reassured party members and stakeholders that the legal process remained central to resolving the disagreement, expressing confidence that the court would provide clarity on the matter.
