An aspirant to the House of Representatives in Lagos State Afeez Ipesa-Balogun has promised to donate his salary and allowances to the development of his constituency, if elected to represent Oshodi Federal Constituency 1.
Ipesa-Balogun, a former Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, who declared to vie for the ticket of the constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he would not take salary and allowances for personal use as a member of the House of Representatives but for the development of every level of the constituency.
Ipesa-Balogun, also a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, said he would set up a Constituency Trust Fund to which his salary and allowances would be paid into and then applied to all areas of the constituency, if he won the party’s primary to run for the Oshodi Federal Constituency 1 and gets elected into the house.
Ipesa-Balogun, who was received with wide jubilation at the occasion held at his Oshodi, Lagos residence said his last child is serving the country as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), disclosing that he was not seeking to serve to acquire wealth for private use.
Eulogised as “Ipesa, like Nelson Mandela”, he said it was long he left office as council chairman but he has lived, worked hard, and solved all necessary problems, including adequately training his children, stating that he does not need to chase money for personal use any longer.
He promised to enliven the constituency with progress and development, taking care of the health of the elderly and widows, attending to schools and health centre problems in the constituency, establishing a Constituency Trust Fund that would be administered by men and women of integrity, if offered the ticket and voted into the House of Representatives to represent the constituency.
He enjoined people to exercise their civil obligation by going out to vote and ensure that their votes count.
