Facts about the genesis of the unending rivalry and enmity between Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State and the eight Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki have emerged.

Sources said the sworn enmity is beyond politics.

Political figures who unraveled the inherited rivalry told The Guardian Newspaper in Ilorin that the crisis that had graduated to political witch-huntting dated back to the ’80s.

According to them, the face off was initially between the first lawyer in the old northern region, Mallam AbdulRazaq who happened to be the father of the incumbent governor, Mallam AbdulRahman and the former senate leader, Olusaola Abubakar Saraki.

Ilorites told our reporter that while AbdulRazaq (senior) lived for himself and his family, Baba Oloye (Saraki senior) lived his entire life for Ilorites.

Salman Jawondo Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) recalled that the disposition of the duo to life and humanity placed Baba Saraki ahead of Baba AbdulRazaq who was arguably the most educated in the entire northern region.

Madam Hawa Yinusa explained that while Baba AbdulRazaq c established the Government High School (GHS) Adeta, Ilorin, with the alleged declaration that it was for humanity but commercial, Baba Oloye rallied Kwarans to contribute and established the Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) for the masses.

“Their differences seriously placed Saraki as people’s hero, ahead of AbdulRazaq seen as selfish,” Jawondo stated.

Hosting The Guardian Newspaper correspondent in his Ilorin office, Jawondo, who said that the situation affected the acceptability of the duo, lamented: “we didn’t know that Governor AbdulRahman would transfer the old rivalry between his father and Saraki family to governance before we rallied round him for governor in 2019.”

He informed that the rivalry in no small measure affected Ilorin and governance in the state, arguing that the governor’s hatred for Saraki affected governor’s priorities in the state.

He justified his claim recalling the state government legal case against the former senate president over Offa bank robberies, asking: “what is the sensible link of Saraki to the sad incident?”

The legal icon said that Kwarans were only yearning for change in 2019, not because of musrul, “if my water dispenser had been presented in 2019, it would have won the Saraki candidate.

“Now we know better because we have realised that our hardship in Kwara is self inflicted,” he regretted.
