The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled the suspended national chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, alongside several other party members over alleged financial misconduct and disloyalty.

Those expelled include the suspended national youth leader, Uchechukwu Chukwuma; Adamu Abubakar Modibbo; Abubakar Dogara; Nuraddeen Bisalla; Solsuema Osaro; Ambo Ekpeyong; Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry; Humphrey Unwukaeze; and Judith Israel Shuaibu.

According to the party, the decision followed the consideration of a report submitted by its disciplinary committee, which investigated allegations of financial impropriety and disloyalty against the affected members.

The resolution was endorsed by the acting national chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe; the deputy national chairman (South), Senator Ugochukwu Uba; the national secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye; the national legal adviser, Aderemi Abimbola; and seven other national officers.

The NWC recalled that Gabam, along with the national auditor, Nze Nnadi Clarkson, and the national youth leader, Chukwuma, had been suspended in July over allegations of financial misappropriation, prompting the establishment of a disciplinary committee to probe the matter.

The committee also found seven other members guilty of disloyalty and acts inconsistent with the party’s constitution.

A statement issued after the NWC meeting read that the committee considered another report which detailed how some disloyal members, including Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu, unlawfully broke into the party’s national secretariat at 17 Nairobi Street, Wuse II, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, July 28, 2025.

They were apprehended by law enforcement agents and found with burgled items and sensitive party documents. They are currently facing prosecution.

Following deliberations at its meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Abuja, the NWC resolved that Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam be formally relieved of his position as national chairman and expelled from the party.

It also removed Uchechukwu Chukwuma as national youth leader and expelled him from the party.

The resignation of the national auditor, Nze Nnadi Clarkson, was accepted following his submission of a voluntary letter of resignation.

The NWC also expelled Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu from the party.

The NWC added that it would implement other recommendations from the committee’s white paper on administrative safeguards and reforms to strengthen the SDP’s internal governance.
