President Bola Tinubu has called for resilience against the adverse effects of climate change in Africa, saying it is essential for safeguarding the continent’s communities and economies.

Tinubu made the call on Wednesday while delivering his presidential address at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025: ‘From Climate Imperatives to Economic Prosperity: Bringing Africa Into the Future of Global Energy.’

“In my speech, I reiterated that resilience against the adverse effects of climate change is essential for safeguarding our African communities and economies, but sustainability must be inclusive,” Tinubu said in a video posted on the official X account of the PBAT Media Centre.

The president said that, as Africa’s most populous nation and one of its largest economies, Nigeria recognizes its responsibility to demonstrate the required leadership on these matters.

“Our efforts are anchored on three pillars: Energy Transition, Climate Resilience, and Sustainable Development,” Tinubu added.

“Our challenges are global, and solutions will only be effective if we work together in the spirit of mutual respect and a shared future.”

He added that Nigeria and Africa are, therefore, working tirelessly and must do what they can to ensure that their policies promote equity and social justice, leaving no one behind.
