Ugochinyere congratulates new PDP caucus leader in House of Reps

Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Imo State, has congratulated Hon. Fred Abedi on his election as the new leader of the PDP caucus in the House of Representatives.

Abedi, a federal lawmaker from Bayelsa State and Chairman of the House Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, was elected Wednesday night during a meeting of the PDP caucus in the House.

In a statement on Thursday, Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North/South Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), described Abedi’s election as a turning point for the PDP in the Green Chamber.

“The emergence of Hon. Fred Abedi is an indication that light will always prevail over darkness,” Ugochinyere said, expressing optimism that the new caucus leader would work to restore the party’s lost glory.

Reacting to internal party tensions, Ugochinyere criticized the role played by Hon. Kingsley Chinda, accusing him of attempting to thwart Abedi’s emergence under the influence of Minister Nyesom Wike.

“Despite the wicked plot of the Wike group, the PDP Caucus stood its ground and elected Rt. Hon. Fred Abedi,” he stated. “This is a clear message to Wike and his allies, led by Chinda, that their plan to keep PDP perpetually weak ahead of the 2027 general election cannot work.”

Ugochinyere pledged his full support to Abedi in his new role and reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the PDP for future electoral victories.

“Together, we will rescue our party from the shackles of implosion and other antics of Wike and the APC,” he said.
