Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Mudashiru Obasa, has said the speakers were not concerned about who becomes the state assembly speaker, but the process through which such an individual emerged.
He commended the National Assembly for its decision to investigate the crisis at the Edo and Bauchi states’ assemblies.
The Lagos State House of Assembly speaker said the organization welcomed the recent resolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives to intervene in the squabble at the two assemblies. According to him, every legislature in Nigeria has a house rule that must be followed by members and without undue external interference.
