Women and youths in Oluyole Federal Constituency of Oyo have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of veteran journalist and politician, Kehinde Olaosebikan, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The groups described Olaosebikan as the right man for the job, while the APC chieftain declared that it was his turn to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
Olaosebikan, a former Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, spoke during the presentation of modern high-tech public address systems to women and youth groups at the headquarters of the PBAT-KO Grassroots Movement in Olomi, Ibadan.
Women and youth leaders of the APC in Oluyole Local Government, led by Mrs. Kikelomo Akinleye and Mr. Babatunde Yisau Lawal, alongside party leaders from the 10 wards in the council area, openly endorsed his aspiration.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, Lawal commended Olaosebikan for the donation and described him as a generous and dependable politician.
“People like Kenny are not common in politics. We appreciate his kind and pragmatic gesture and are ready to give him our full support in his aspiration. We are also prepared to support other APC candidates in the 2027 elections,” he said.
On the part of the women, Akinleye said Olaosebikan possesses the qualities of a responsible and caring leader.
“We have known Olaosebikan for about 18 years. He is our daddy, brother and uncle. He is an excellent party man, responsible, responsive and caring. We believe that if he gets there, our party and Oluyole will be better for it.
“He came to seek our support to emerge as the APC candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency, and we are solidly behind him,” she stated.
Addressing supporters, Olaosebikan said he was prepared for whatever mode of primary election the APC adopts, insisting that his loyalty to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and years of service to the party place him in a strong position.
“The people of Oluyole deserve quality representation from a tested grassroots politician with experience. My loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and commitment to progressive politics are not in doubt,” he said.
He urged party leaders and members to prioritise competence, loyalty and track record in selecting the party’s candidate, noting that Oluyole deserves the best representation because of its economic, social and political importance.
Olaosebikan also stressed that he has remained loyal to the APC without defecting, despite losing in previous primaries in 2019 and 2023.
The former Chief Press Secretary to the late former Lam Adesina further declared that 2027 was the right time for him to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
