Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State has said if it wins the 2023 governorship election, democratic dividends will be restored across the 31 councils of the state.

Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State has said if it wins the 2023 governorship election, democratic dividends will be restored across the 31 councils of the state.

The state Chairman of the party, Nyeneime Andy, gave the assurance during the flag-off of National Assembly campaigns and presentation of flags to three senatorial candidates and nine House of Representatives candidates, held at the Qua Iboe Church grounds, Eket.

According to him, his confidence of the party taking over Akwa Ibom State stems from the fact that despite intimidations from state actors, the party is still waxing stronger.

“As a party, we have been intimidated, but with God, we are stronger. Though some people have tried to make themselves God, Akwa Ibom people have taken a decision that there is no other religion apart from Christianity, and we worship no one apart from God.

“Today, we are presenting flags to our candidates. They are those we have assessed before we presented them as candidates. They all have their WAEC certificates.”

The Director General of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Council, Sunny Ibuot, said 2023 would be “the first time the people would have the privilege to elect their own governor” and urged the people of the state not to joke with the opportunity.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Campaign Council, Emem Akpabio, thanked God for giving Akwa Ibom a party like the YPP.

MEANWHILE, Nyeneime, at another forum, urged youths of the state to shun violence, thuggery and offensive speeches before, during and after the 2023 general elections. He gave the charge during the inauguration of the YPP Youths Caucus in the state.

“Selling vote for a certain amount will mean selling your destiny, it is you that will tell your brothers and sisters to vote the right leaders. Thuggery , violence and vulgar language is not allowed in the entire party structure, including the youth caucus,” he added.
