Yusuf sacks another commissioner

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has sacked his Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry, Shehu Wada Sagagi, with immediate effect.

He was directed to hand over the ministry’s affairs to the Director of Commerce, pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, yesterday, the governor expressed appreciation for the services rendered by the ex-commissioner during his tenure.

The decision is part of the ongoing strategic realignment of government to structures for systematic growth and sustainable development.

The governor also acknowledged Sagagi’s contributions to the state’s development, particularly in politics, religion, and small- and medium-scale enterprises.

He wished him success in his future endeavours as he reassured the public of his administration’s continued commitment to efficient service delivery and good governance in the state.

Sagagi, a strong political ally of former governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,  was the only serving commissioner who refused to denounce his loyalty to Kwankwaso and the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

He had reportedly distanced himself from government activities since Governor Yusuf returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
