Amid an impending cabinet reshuffle, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Kano State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday evening, the governor directed Musa to leave before the close of work yesterday.
According to the statement, Musa’s disengagement was part of administrative repositioning, essentially to accelerate efficient and effective service delivery in the civil service.
Subsequently, the governor has directed the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, to replace the former HoS in acting capacity, pending the appointment of a new person.
The statement read: “The decision is part of the ongoing efforts by the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions.
“Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of Kano State during his tenure.”

“The Governor also directed that Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, serve in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.
“By this announcement, the outgoing Head of Service is directed to hand over the affairs of the office to the Ag. Head of Service latest tomorrow, Wednesday, 11th March, 2026.”
