One of the founders of Tribitat Real Estate Ltd, Abikoye Emmanuel Adekunle, has moved from coming from a poor hone to now turning into one of the leading players in Nigeria’s real estate industry, with some of the great real estate projects in the last few years.
Adekunle, who is popularly called Dr Emmanuel Abikoye or Chief Coach of Lagos by admirers, friends, associates and business partners for many reasons runs a firm that has become a leading real estate development company in Nigeria with about 400 units of houses in its portfolio over 6 years of existence.
Adekunle attended Oloye Primary School, Lagos, from 1990 to 1996, bagging his First Leaving School Certificate. After that, he proceeded to Oloye Comprehensive College, Lagos, from 1997 to 2003, where he acquired his Secondary School Certificate.
He went to study Science Laboratory Technology at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, acquiring a National Diploma (Upper Credit) between 2006 and 2008. Adekunle. The Chief Coach of Lagos would go a notch further in his quest for academic excellence with a Higher National Diploma (Lower Credit) in Microbiology from Kwara State Polytechnic, between 2009 and 2011.
Recollecting his background, Adekunle said, “During my Secondary Education on holiday, I used to join my father to Iponri market where he had a bus he used in logistics for movement of beer and beverages. I served as a motor boy during that period and whatever I made is what I used to sort out my school fees.
“After secondary school, the hustle still didn’t stop as I worked from one factory to another as a factory worker. I worked in Union Dicon Salt Factory Kirikiri, Dana Plastic Ijora. When I left Dana Plastic, I worked with a beer retails shop owned by Aunty Ayo Ogunleye in Orile Iganmu where I oversaw the distributions of beer and beverages to different beer parlour and joints within the Orile Iganmu and Sari Iganmu Neighbourhood using a very big hand push truck for supplies” added Adekunle.
Speaking further, he said, “on holidays, during my National Diploma days, I used to go back to this retail outlet to work for them, so as to raise money for school fees for the next session. Imagine as an undergraduate I pushed trucks on the streets of Lagos.
“When I was in the Polytechnic, as a street Boy, I took part in school politics and during my final year, I contested for the post of the Student Union Government (SUG) Director for sport which I won. I held the position in the apex student Union Movement for 2010/2011 academic session. I also led the team of all the political office seekers to achieve all their political ambitions in my department and institute,” added Adekunle.
